Hi. I’m Carissa Lamkahouan, freelance journalist, editor, copywriter, and owner of Carissa Writes It All, a consulting writing business.
Many of you may be familiar with the early-90s TV show, “Clarissa Explains It All,” which ran on Nickelodeon, a teenage-viewing staple for those of us of a certain age. However, if you haven’t a clue what I’m talking about, take no mind, I just figured the pop-culture reference, coupled with the luck of my name, made it an obvious choice when it came to choosing the name of my writing business and my shameless attempt at marketing myself.
Is it working?
I guess we’ll see.
Anyway, 90s nostalgia and naming coincidence aside, the title works really well to describe what I do. As a trained journalist, naturally the bulk of my experience is in news writing, including feature stories. This type of work marked the start of my career in 1997. However, nearly 15 years ago when I began to work from home, I saw an opportunity to branch out and soon began providing marketing, public relations, and blogging content for clients, as well.
In that time I’ve worked on a book focused on the oil and gas industry; helped develop a website surrounding a notorious Texas mass shooting; created and edited content for a petroleum engineer and a registered dietitian, and promoted and written magazine articles for a dog-product inventor and entrepreneur in addition to developing news article and blogs focusing on business, education, religion and more.
In other words, I, (Carissa) do indeed write it all. Let me write for you.
